Top 20 social web sites

soscial networkingThe latest issue of Website Magazine presents a top 50 list of social media resources, that is the most visited social web sites out there.

Increasingly, people use social media sites to find information online. Instead of using the regular search engines, which search huge indexes of all kind of info, it makes sense to go to YouTube to find videos and to LinkedIn to find business connections.

The list is based on web statistics gathered by Ranking.com.

  1. YouTube (Video sharing)
  2. MySpace (Social networking)
  3. Facebook (Social networking)
  4. Beebo (Video and social networking)
  5. Black Planet (Black online community)
  6. Tagged (Social networking)
  7. Imeem (Social network for sharing music, video and photos)
  8. Hi5 (Social networking)
  9. Orkut (Social networking)
  10. Digg (Sharing and discovering links)
  11. LinkedIn (Professional networking)
  12. Ning (Create your own social networking community)
  13. Stumbleupon (Sharing and discovering links)
  14. Friendster (Social networking)
  15. Buzznet (Pop culture social networking)
  16. Multiply (Media sharing)
  17. Twitter (Microblogging)
  18. Cyworld (Social networking)
  19. Netlog (Blog based social networking)

Organizing thoughts and materials and ideas

by admin in Sabbatical Research and Thinking

New ways to work

Blogs, 2.0 tools, voice?,

Overly cumbersome sorting this out .. tons of trying things and decision making .. and organizing/reorganizing

Help … which apps to use .. what process.. could be a book itself .. but then something new would occur .. new app .. new feature .. something

Selecting books, journals and blogs also a moving target .. Creative Commons and narrowing thesis will make the call.  The winnowing down process of ideas and materials .. trying to let it flow .. has been helpful as new ideas pop up all the time. Business books have been helpful at stimulating new directions

  • disruptive technology
  • popular – book/blog/mag
  • new ways to collect, use and present information
  • ideas book
  • ?
